Sister Kapp

My phone beeped as I was dusting this morning and a text came across asking if I had seen that Sister Kapp had passed away.

I set down my dust cloth and immediately searched my digital collection for this picture.  One of two “holy hugs” I have received in my 48 years.  (The other was from President Linda K. Burton.)

It doesn’t discount the hugs of parents, relatives, friends, children and my husband.

Those each have their own special place.

But there was a special power in the hug I received from Sister Kapp.  A hug that said “I believe in you.  You are treasured.  Keep the faith.”

She had a remarkable sparkle filled with love and joy that positively glowed.

And while she didn’t have all the dreams of her heart fulfilled (as none of us will), she embraced and magnified what WAS given and learned and listened and loved and blessed countless individuals.

As I read through her quotes, mentally hearing her voice, these are the words that stood out to me today:

“It's okay that your parents aren't perfect; no one's are. And it's okay that they didn't have any perfect children either; no one's are. You see, our whole purpose is to strive together in righteousness, overcoming our weaknesses

day by day. Don't ever give up on each other.”

Oh how I loved this sweet lady!
