24 Boxes of Scripture Cereal

Sometimes blessings received give us the opportunity to share.

Every occupation has its perks.  And deficits, but let's go with the perks here.

George and I went to the local Free Teachers Store, an amazing resource for teachers where we can get some extra supplies from surplus and donations.  There are regularly random items added as appreciation gifts or for us to share with students and families.

This week as we were leaving we were given two cases of cereal each.  So since we are both teachers, we had four cases.

When we got home and opened it we realized it was scripture cereal.  And no matter how good it is we don't need 24 boxes.  Not even if it's Ezekiel 4:9 Golden Flax cereal.

"Take thou also unto thee wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentils, and millet, and fitches, and put them in one vessel, and make thee bread thereof"

What on earth is fitches? Apparently a member of the ranunculus family that has lots of pungent black seeds. But I'm not sure it belongs in my cereal.

Anyway, we had been blessed with this scripture cereal in abundance.  But what to do with it?

Ella and I decided to go and make deliveries.  It turned into a fun evening of quick hellos and connection.  I got to chat for a bit with my friend Carla who is going through a big difficulty and wish her well.  It was touching to hear her story and reassuring to see her looking so well in spite of all she's going through.  Ella got to hold a new baby.  We giggled at a toddler splashing in the tub.  We got lots of smiles and laughs.  We had our own buckets filled.

Too often we wait for the perfect opportunity and perfect circumstances to arrive for us to reach out and share.  Sometimes all it takes is an extra box of cereal.  Or 23.
